Alex

Alex 27044_StaatsOne of the very hardest things to do is to say goodbye to a pet, especially one that’s been a part of your life for over 17 years.  This past week I had to do that with my cat Alex.  We have been through a lot together over the years and he was always there to welcome me with a nudge and a purr.  At times he could be quite shy, especially around people he wasn’t familiar with.  But once he accepted you he was a great friend who loved to be close to you.  He was also my most serious-looking cat, although there was a great glimmer of excitement whenever the catnip came out for a treat.  He wasn’t one that liked to pose for photos, so I always felt fortunate when I could get an image that seemed to capture his personality.  His friendship and his loving nature we be missed…. Thanks, Alex.

    Dear Linda,
So sorry to hear about Alex’s death. It’s hard to lose our four legged friends, who bring such unconditional love into our lives. Big hugs from me and Kevin.

    Hi Linda
Really sorry to hear about your loss. I remember meeting Alex and what a beautiful cat he was. Ginger cats are the best.

    Linda,
I am so, so very sorry to hear of Alex’s death. What a beautiful animal he is in this gorgeous photo! What a beautiful spirit will remain to remind you of his beauty, love and loyalty. When we moved here in 2001, my cat, Myxye, died within months. It was my birthday weekend when we had to take her in to have her suffering stopped. She was with me for more than 16 years, and I adored her deeply. I still think of her virtually every day. My deepest sympathies to you during this trying time. I know the weight you are under.

Thanks, Rex. You certainly know the loveliness of cats and pets. They give us their all, and we can only hope to return that back to them when they need it most.

Thanks, Tammy. Alex was a shy guy, but he was a great little buddy; certainly his own unique personality (as all pets are).

Isn’t that the wonderful thing about photographic images? The memories, the sights, the sounds, the smells, and the love…they can all come back to us when we look at a photo. Thanks, Joani!

He looks gentle and dignified in the photo – handsome, too. I am so sorry for the loss of Alex in your life. We are lucky to be chosen by our animals – they know us probably better than anyone else and love us anyway.

Thanks, Margaret. Alex was dignified in his demeanor, and you are so very right; the unconditional love we get from our animals is to be cherished.
